Content Policy

This Content Policy governs all user-generated content submitted to the Ostrich platform, including vendor reviews, community posts, and comments. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service, which contains additional requirements for all platform users.
1. Review Guidelines
Vendor reviews are the foundation of Ostrich’s intelligence platform. The value of the platform depends entirely on the authenticity and accuracy of reviews submitted by users. We take review integrity seriously and enforce these guidelines rigorously.
Genuine Experience Requirement
You may only submit a review for a vendor with whom you have had a genuine, firsthand business relationship. This means you have personally evaluated, purchased, used, or been materially impacted by the vendor’s product or service in a professional capacity. By submitting a review, you attest under penalty of account termination that the content reflects your honest, unbiased assessment based on real experience.
Prohibited Review Types
The following categories of reviews are prohibited:
- Fabricated reviews. Reviews submitted without a genuine business relationship with the reviewed vendor, regardless of the reviewer’s opinion of the vendor’s reputation.
- Incentivized reviews. Reviews submitted in exchange for payment, discounts, free trials, reciprocal reviews, or any other form of consideration offered by or on behalf of the reviewed vendor.
- Competitor-targeted reviews. Negative reviews submitted by employees, contractors, investors, or affiliates of a competing vendor for the purpose of damaging that vendor’s score or reputation on the platform.
- Coordinated review campaigns. Organized efforts by any individual, business, or group to flood a vendor’s profile with positive or negative reviews, whether or not each individual review is otherwise genuine.
- Confidential or defamatory content. Reviews that disclose non-public proprietary business information, trade secrets, private personnel matters, or that contain materially false statements of fact presented as true.
Permitted Review Content
We encourage thorough, specific, and honest reviews. The following types of content are explicitly permitted and valued:
- Implementation experience. Honest description of the onboarding, setup, and implementation process, including timelines, support quality, and unexpected challenges.
- Feature assessment. Objective evaluation of product capabilities, performance, reliability, and how they compare to the vendor’s advertised claims.
- Pricing and value. Commentary on pricing structure, contract terms, and overall return on investment based on your experience.
- Customer support quality. Feedback on responsiveness, competence, and helpfulness of the vendor’s support and account management teams.
- Contextual operational details. Relevant context about your portfolio size, property type, or use case that helps other readers understand how to weight your experience.
Flagging Process
Any registered user may flag a review that they believe violates this Content Policy by using the “Flag review” option on the review card. Flags are reviewed by the Ostrich Trust & Safety team within 5 business days. Flagged reviews remain visible during review unless they contain clearly illegal content or doxxing. Submitters of flagged reviews will be notified of the outcome. Repeated frivolous flagging by any user may itself result in account restrictions.
2. Community Guidelines
The Ostrich community forums, discussion threads, and comment sections are spaces for property managers, vendors, operators, and industry professionals to share insights, ask questions, and advance the knowledge of the short-term rental industry. The following guidelines apply to all community participation.
Respectful Discourse
All community members are expected to engage with professionalism and respect. Disagreement and critical feedback are welcome; personal attacks, harassment, threats, and targeted hostility toward individuals or companies are not. Critique the idea, not the person. Content that is discriminatory, hateful, or harassing on the basis of any protected characteristic will be removed immediately and may result in permanent account termination.
No Spam or Solicitation
Community spaces are not for advertising, lead generation, or unsolicited outreach. Posting promotional content, referral links, affiliate links, or repetitive self-promotional material is prohibited. Vendor representatives may participate in relevant discussions about their products only in response to direct questions, and must identify their affiliation clearly.
Vendor Affiliation Disclosure
If you are employed by, contracted with, or have a financial relationship with any vendor mentioned in a community post, comment, or discussion thread, you must disclose that relationship prominently at the start of your contribution. Using language such as “[Disclosure: I work at VendorName]” or “[Disclosure: I am a paid consultant for VendorName]” satisfies this requirement. Undisclosed vendor affiliations are a serious violation of this policy.
Three-Strike Enforcement
Community guideline violations are tracked on a three-strike system within any rolling 90-day period:
- First violation — Content removed; written warning issued to account.
- Second violation — Content removed; 7-day community posting suspension.
- Third violation — Content removed; escalated to full enforcement review per Section 3.
3. Enforcement
Ostrich reserves the right to remove any content and take action against any account that violates this Content Policy or the Terms of Service. Enforcement actions are determined by the Ostrich Trust & Safety team based on the severity, frequency, and context of the violation.
Enforcement Ladder
- Warning. For first-time or minor violations, Ostrich will issue a written warning via email, explain the specific policy violated, and remove or require correction of the offending content. No further action is taken if the violation is not repeated.
- 30-Day Suspension. For repeated violations, coordinated manipulation, or moderately severe first offenses, access to content submission features will be suspended for thirty (30) calendar days. During suspension, you may still access and view platform content consistent with your subscription tier, but may not submit reviews, community posts, or comments.
- Permanent Ban. For severe violations (including fraud, coordinated manipulation campaigns, hate speech, doxxing, or repeated violations following prior suspensions), Ostrich may permanently terminate the account and ban associated email addresses, IP addresses, and payment methods from the platform. Permanent bans are not subject to reversal except in extraordinary circumstances at Ostrich’s sole discretion.
Immediate Removal
Certain categories of content will be removed immediately without prior warning, regardless of the account’s prior standing. These include content that is illegal under applicable law, contains personally identifiable information of individuals without their consent (doxxing), constitutes credible threats of violence, or is clearly generated as part of a coordinated manipulation campaign.
Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may submit an appeal within fourteen (14) days of the enforcement action by contacting our support team at support@ostrichintel.com with the subject line “Content Policy Appeal.” Please include your account email, the specific content or action you are appealing, and a clear explanation of why you believe the action was made in error.
Appeals are reviewed by a member of the Trust & Safety team who was not involved in the original enforcement decision. We aim to respond to all appeals within 7 business days. Appeal decisions are final.
